Currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the New Cycle Foundation (NCF) was established in Boston in April 1985 by the late Michael S. Currier (1960-1998), for the purpose of funding programs to help inner-city youth strengthen their self-esteem. Over time, NCF expanded the scope of its efforts and began to also award grants to international human-rights organizations, environmental causes (including land conservation), education, community economic development, energy-efficiency initiatives, and health research projects. When Currier relocated to Santa Fe in 1989, he moved his Foundation headquarters there as well. NCF's mission today is “to provide support for programs addressing at-risk children, youth and families, women's issues, protection of the environment, and the promotion of peace.”
NCF's donees in recent years have included such organizations as Democracy Now!, and Trust for Public Land.
