Ken Perkins is a founding member of Veterans For Peace (VFP), along with Jerry Genesio, Reverend Willard Bicket and Doug Rawlings. VFP is an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) represented at the United Nations. Its founders created the group in July 1985 because they were "disturbed by the militancy of the United States and its violent intervention in the affairs of other nations." Perkins, who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, is an active supporter of John Kerry's 2004 Presidential campaign.
